The 4th Edition of the Autumn School X-ray and Neutron Reflectivity, held from October 8 to 11, 2024 at Marcoule Institute for Separation Chemistry, brought together in a convivial atmosphere some fifteen students from various research centers (Universities of Rouen, Lille and Le Mans, Ecole Polytechnique, Institut des Nanosciences de Paris, Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes, CEA Marcoule and ICSM) belonging to the community of researchers, engineers, technicians and PhD students practicing or about to practice reflectivity for surface analysis.

This autumn school provided an opportunity to train participants in the theoretical principles of reflectivity, its potential uses, data processing, and exploitation, through lectures and practical work (sample analysis on an instrument and data simulation using REFLEX software). Enriching and motivating exchanges between participants and lecturers on the different types of sample analyzed enabled new collaborations to be initiated, and new ways of adapting the latest version of REFLEX software to specific cases to be proposed.

And, of course, the “take-home message” of the course: Keep the good REFLEX!

Next school: see you in 2027!
