The ANR AUTOMACT project (2018-2023) aimed to demonstrate the value of using a mesoporous silica functionalized with organic ligands, to develop a new strategy for treating actinide-contaminated radioactive effluents. The results obtained show that this 2-in-1 material achieves the initial objectives. On the one hand, it can be used to sorb radionuclides, and on the other, it can be used to encapsulate radionuclides, leading to a conditioning matrix, after the mesoporosity has collapsed as a result of irradiation damage.
A film entitled "Fondamental ! À la recherche du Futur | EP4 | Vers un avenir durable", produced at Marcoule and broadcast on Esprit sorcier TV on Wednesday April 24, 2024 and on the CEA YouTube channel, presents this project.
